1. Lazy Suzanne creation
A short step-by-step of the seperate ideations and adjustments needed in order deliver my desired results.

1. Steam Bending/Vacuum Sealing
In creation of a bow, I went through the steps of placing a featherboard to run my board multiple times with the same result. As for the shaping, I placed my boards in a large steam vent, individual glue-ups, and finished with sealing my glued strips in a vacuum seal bag until dry.

1. Glue-upsThese are glue-ups from seperate projects using f-clamps and standard wood glue.

1. White Canvas creationA run-through of some unconventional process in creating a pulley system starting from the back of its neck and re-entering through its chest. In addition, I made etches across its back and chest to help me with chisel out the rib cage and spinal cord.

1. Orthographic Drawings/Process DrawingMechanical and process drawing across multiple projects

With over four years of experience in the food industry and currently a second-year student at Parsons School of Design, I bring a strong work ethic and an eagerness to learn. My experience has taught me how to balance taking initiative and knowing when to step back and let clear leadership guide the way. I thrive in environments that encourage teamwork and collaboration, and I’m always ready to contribute to achieving shared goals.

In addition to my professional background, I volunteer at The ECHO Leahy Center, which I believed has helped me grow as an individual as well as refine my ability to work in diverse teams and build meaningful connections. I’m looking for opportunities to bring my skill set into new environments where creativity and growth are at the forefront.

Lazy Suzanne
A Lazy Susan for Two with Intentional Patterns and Formatting of Colors

Introducing seniors and patients to easy and thoughtful dining; creating conversation and sharing a story.

Lazy Suzanne

The idea for this project stems from my visits to a caregiving facility. The facility I visited was very patient and provides comfort; caring for, feeding, and changing patients with cognitive impairments and dimentia.

Even amidst the care and comfort, there would be three main issues; the few opportunities to conversation,  lack of variety in types of food, and a patients own independence. All three have one thing in common, that is they provide a challenge for our mind; small daily activities and routine that keep us sharp. One thing I noticed during a patients routine were the utensils and plates. Color coded in seperate sections, they were meant to build pattern recognition and easy understanding when eating independently.

Lazy susans are used regularly in dimsum restaurants to house large parties of people: family gatherings and get-togethers. Small plates and entrees and soups and desserts all at once. The table is spinning, heads are spinning, and the conversation begins flowing.

Lazy Suzanne should uphold all of these values, only much simpler. Patients require much quieter spaces and more organisation during meals. Creating an enviornment that’s easy for them to navigate comes first.

The Lazy Suzanne isn’t much of a product and more of an implementation towards pattern recognition and communication through story telling.

Two people are seated on opposite ends of the table. And shown below are twelve characters. Each character represents its own blessing. Starting with the smallest circle, the user finishes a plate and reveals their blessing. As they move down the line clockwise, and uncover the rest of their blessings, their blessings grow(larger circles) in size. landing on the red line, where they reach their six and final blessing, they uncover the full poem.

All poems and blessings are interchangeable to bring new conversation. And eating along the lines allow for easy recognition and creates a sense of independence for the user.
